"The skill requires 100% energy to use. Energy is built by spending time in combat with the Spirit Weapon equipped as your current weapon (does not include your off-hand weapon).
It takes approximately 10 minutes of active combat to gain a full charge.
A fixed amount of energy is gained for every 10 seconds you are engaged in combat, and for up to 20 seconds after combat ends."
